Correspondence, Homestudy and On-Line Courses

General Information

Correspondence courses have been designed for those operators who cannot attend classroom sessions. Registrants will receive a training manual/reference book/video/DVD's and workbook with review lessons that must be mailed back for marking. Certain items of course material must be returned. Applicants will be advised which material is on loan and which they may keep. Once all the lessons have been completed, mailed in, and marked by an authorized person, a date can be set up with the operator's supervisor to write the final course completion exam. This is arranged with the AWWOA training course registrar. Upon receiving a passing grade (70%), the operator will be notified and a course completion certificate mailed.

Registering for correspondence courses will be accepted year round. A registrant must complete the correspondence course within one year of receiving the course material. To apply for correspondence courses, please complete the application form - use a different form for each person registering.

Homestudy courses have also been designed for those operators who cannot attend the classroom sessions. They have been developed for operators of water and wastewater treatment facilities. These courses are set up in a workbook / DVD format. The home study registrant will view the DVD, read through a workbook review summary and then complete a short quiz for the lesson. All lessons are personally marked by the operator. To receive CEU credits for the homestudy course, an operator must pass a supervised course completion exam which must be arranged through the AWWOA training course registrar. Please contact the registrar when comfortable with the course material. Upon receiving a passing grade (70%), the operator will be notified and a course completion certificate mailed.

Applications to register for home study courses will be accepted year round. Registrants must complete the home study course within; one year of receiving the course material. To apply for home study courses, please complete the application form - use a different form for each person registering. You may wish to use our new on-line application form. You can fill it out on-line and either print it or email it directly to the AWWOA offiice. You will need to use the latest version of Adobe Reader.

On-Line courses have also been designed for those operators who cannot attend classroom sessions. The AWWOA is pleased to currently offer Entry Level Training, Level I, Level II, Small Water Systems and Small Wastewater Systems in this format. Registration, and all course materials will all be handled through this web site. Full instructions and support will be via computer. Upon completion of this course, the student's supervisor will be issued a password to proctor the on-line self-marking exam.for these courses. The student will be notified immediately of a passing grade (70%) and a couse completion certificate will be mailed accordingly.
